Three questions to Amira Makhlouf, teacher, mentor and transformation coach.
Here you will be reading words of living experience and not tales of “I have heard”.
Here you find a way to become leader of yourself on the subject money.
Expect the best.
Inspire and get inspired
I welcome you to my blog “Inspire”.
We met in the context of the certification mentoring of ICF (International Coaching Federation).
I thought of you to talk to and inspire us on a topic that touches everyone.
I thought of you because in our deep and pleasant coaching conversations you told me several times about your personal experience on this topic.
Let’s talk about MONEY.
Let’s talk about our RELATIONSHIP WITH MONEY.
On your website you write:
“I had a difficult childhood marked by the difficulty of integrating into the society of my country and by many financial difficulties of my family, but when I hit rock bottom I realised that I had to do something to change the story … I had to do it alone.”
DEAR AMIRA, WHAT PERSONAL EXPERIENCE WITH MONEY HAVE YOU GATHERED IN YOUR LIFE?
Money has always been a big issue for me.
I lived with a lot, I lived without anything and one thing I realized was that I always attracted what I believed I deserved.
I grew up in a family where money was a challenge.
We were 5 kids; a father that had to provide; a mother who didn’t work.
One day my father’s company collapsed, and my mother had to work as a cleaning lady to provide for us.
My parents got divorced. Then my mother became a single mom.
I had to help her, and I had to make so many compromises.
Leaving my country (Palestine) pushed me to be independent and provide for myself but my belief around money kept blocking me from having money flowing towards me.
I had to learn the hard way that money reflected my identity around it.
I lived in a church.
I lost my house.
I lost my partner who provided for me and all sources of income.
The only way I could face the challenge was looking within me.
I meditated and prayed.
I used to look for a quarter of a dollar in the street to buy food (you could buy something with a quarter back then).
I found one, but I had to give it away to a beggar who asked me for a quarter.
I gave it with all my heart and the day after I received 500 dollars from a friend.
Two things I understood:
- You get what you ask for
- The power of giving: when you give more you become more
So since then, I changed my relationship around money and mainly my relationship with myself that I was worthy of receiving.
I had to release my wounds around money and the wounds of my family. Now I would say I live in prosperity and abundance, and I am at peace with myself.
Dear Amira, your stories reveal your deep life lived in relation to money.
“My belief around money kept blocking me from having money flowing towards me.
You talk a lot about “beliefs” around this theme.”
WHAT ARE 3 WAYS TO RELATE FREELY TO MONEY?
There are several ways to resolve money issues:
- The main thing is to observe if money flows easily into your life or it is blocked.
- Ask yourself the questions:
- what is the meaning of money for you? Is it good? Is it bad?
- How do you feel when you see wealthy people? Do you criticize?
- If someone ask you for money, do you give it freely?
- You need to change your identity around money:
if you want to have more you need to become more in your life:
give more than what you expect to have and life becomes abundantly generous with you.
Most people believe that money is evil, money is bad, because we learned from society that money is bad for you, rich people steal, etc.
- Ask yourself: what is your belief around money?
- Go back to your childhood and try to understand where your money wounds came from. Parents? Grandparents?
… and try to do some meditation around it by giving back to your parents and grandparents their wounds and release your pain around money.
- Create positive affirmations around money:
I AM PROSPEROUS
MONEY FLOWS FROM ME AND TO ME WITH EASE
MONEY COMES TO ME WITH EASE AND GRACE ETC…
Amira, you propose to ask yourself:
What is the meaning of money for you?
What is your belief around money?
And you say:
the main thing is to observe if money flows easily into your life, or is it blocked.
WHAT IS THE NEXT STEP TO TAKE ON THIS ISSUE TODAY?
The biggest step is to act as if your prayers were already answered.
I believe every thought we think is a prayer and an invitation for life events.
Start acting as if you were already prosperous.
How would you walk? How would you talk? What would you wear?
Be happy now, act as if you have received what you have been waiting for.
Expressing gratitude for what you have is the biggest key.
Even if you don’t know now, you must have faith in life and in yourself.
Money is a positive energy: in-order to attract it you need to have the same energy.
Likes attract likes.
Be ready, smile more often, allow the universe to deliver to you what you have been asking for.
Don’t let fear of not having enough block you.
It is you who is standing between you and the universe.
Thank the universe in this moment for your past experience, for your wounds.
…And be thankful for what is coming.
Start visualizing as you are already prosperous in every single way.
Expect the best.
Amira, I read words of intensity.
I read words of living experience and not tales of ‘I have heard’.
You inspire me on three points:
- Observe (my relationship with money, the money flow in my life, the personal story of money in my life, my current beliefs)
- Act as if your prayers were already answered
- Express gratitude for what you (already here and now) have
How can all this not be related to SELF-LEADERSHIP?
Self-leadership about money is (also) the ability to experience money as a positive energy and let this energy flow freely.
Which is the question or the affirmation that resonate more in you?
